• Bill Seeking Ban on Alcohol in J&K to be Introduced in Assembly
  • PDP MLA from Kupwara, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, has submitted a Private Member’s Bill seeking a complete ban on liquor in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • The bill, set to be introduced in the upcoming budget session of the J&K Assembly, proposes prohibition on the advertisement, sale, purchase, consumption, and manufacture of alcoholic beverages in the Union Territory.
  • Mir warned that the rising alcohol consumption poses a serious threat to society, stressing the need for strict legislation to curb the trend. The bill also proposes harsh penalties, including imprisonment and fines, for violations.

NC welcomes resumption of Hajj flights from Srinagar airport

Srinagar, 12 May: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Chief Spokesperson and MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq Monday welcomed the resumption of Hajj flights from Srinagar Airport, set to begin on May 14. He emphasised the urgent need to increase the number of flights to ensure that pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir can complete all Hajj rituals in a timely manner.

In a statement released from the Nawa-e-Subha party headquarters, Sadiq expressed that the resumption of flights has brought immense joy to thousands of pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir who have long awaited the opportunity of a lifetime to perform Hajj. 

“I extend our heartfelt gratitude to the relevant authorities for this timely action. It is imperative that the airport authorities and the Hajj committee collaborate to devise a comprehensive plan to increase the number of flights from Srinagar Airport. This initiative will not only save valuable time for the pilgrims but also ensure that they can fully participate in all Hajj rituals alongside their counterparts from around the globe,” he added.
