Pakistani Army Violates Indian Airspace with 300-400 Drones; IAF Thwarts All Attempts
New Delhi | May 09, 2025:
In a grave escalation along the western frontier, the Pakistani Army violated Indian airspace multiple times during the night of May 7 and 8, deploying an estimated 300 to 400 drones across 36 locations to test India’s air defence systems and gather military intelligence, officials revealed during a joint briefing by the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian Armed Forces.
Addressing the press, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Yomika Singh confirmed that all infiltration attempts were successfully foiled by the Indian forces using a mix of kinetic and non-kinetic countermeasures.
“The Pakistani army not only violated Indian airspace, but also launched heavy caliber weapon attacks across the LoC, particularly targeting military infrastructure,” officials stated.
The large-scale drone incursion is believed to have been aimed at testing India’s air defence capabilities and collecting sensitive information. Initial forensic analysis of recovered wreckage suggests that Turkish-origin Asisguard Songar drones were used.
“India responded with strategic restraint, ensuring civilian air traffic was not endangered. Pakistan, on the other hand, irresponsibly kept its airspace open, using civilian airliners as a shield,” Wing Commander Singh added.
Officials confirmed that military facilities such as the Bathinda Military Station were among the intended targets. Additionally, heavy artillery fire was reported in Kupwara and Tangdhar sectors in Jammu & Kashmir, once again breaching ceasefire protocols.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) and ground forces responded swiftly to neutralize the threat and ensure public safety. A detailed investigation is ongoing to trace the operational origins of the drones and assess further security implications.
