
Public Demands, Development Priorities Discussed at District Capex Planning Meeting in Bandipora
BANDIPORA, April 28:
A crucial meeting to discuss the formulation of the District Capex Budget Plan for the financial year 2025–26 was held today at the Mini Secretariat Bandipora, bringing key stakeholders together to prioritize developmental goals for the district.
The meeting was jointly chaired by Chairman, District Development Council (DDC) Bandipora, Abdul Gani Bhat, and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, and saw the participation of Vice Chairperson DDC Kousar Shafeeq, DDC Members, Chief Planning Officer, District Officers from various departments, and other officials.
During the session, various proposals and public demands were presented by the Chairman, Vice Chairperson, and DDC Members. These focused on sector-specific developmental needs aimed at strengthening infrastructure, public service delivery, and community welfare under the upcoming Capex Plan.
The meeting also reviewed the physical and financial progress achieved under the District Capex Budget 2024–25.
Chief Planning Officer Mohammad Maqbool Lone provided a detailed presentation on the status of completed works, ongoing projects, and overall fund utilization across departments.
Taking stock of achievements and shortfalls, Deputy Commissioner Manzoor Ahmad Qadri stressed the elimination of bottlenecks to ensure better execution of projects under the 2025–26 plan.
He emphasized the importance of focusing on asset creation, public service delivery, and employment generation, while also underlining the need to prioritize completion of spill-over and ongoing projects for optimum use of allocated resources.
Qadri directed all departments to complete works within stipulated timelines and warned of strict action, including penalties, against contractors who delay projects or compromise execution quality.
Addressing the participants, DDC Chairman Abdul Gani Bhat highlighted the significance of grassroots participation in the development process. He emphasized the need for elected representatives to be actively involved at every stage—from planning to execution—to ensure transparency, accountability, and impact-driven development.
The meeting concluded with a consensus on aligning the upcoming District Capex Budget with the real needs of the people, aiming to drive inclusive growth and upliftment across Bandipora district.
