Rahul Gandhi Asks Congress Cadres to Support Border Victims; JKPCC Condemns Pakistan’s Civilian Attacks

Jammu/Srinagar, May 7:
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, today reached out to JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra to discuss the escalating border situation in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in the wake of heavy cross-border shelling by Pakistan. Gandhi extended solidarity with the affected families and instructed party cadres to provide full support to civilians, the armed forces, and the local administration.

Rahul Gandhi expressed grief over civilian casualties and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. He urged the Congress leadership in J&K to mobilize youth volunteers and extend all possible humanitarian assistance to affected people.

The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC), led by Karra along with senior leaders Tara Chand, Raman Bhalla, Ravinder Sharma, and others, strongly condemned Pakistan’s shelling of civilian areas and religious sites across districts like Poonch, Rajouri, Kupwara, and Baramulla.

JKPCC also lauded the bravery of the Indian Armed Forces for their targeted operation against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), reaffirming that the nation stands united against terrorism.

The party called on the international community to take serious note of Pakistan’s violations, urging for global condemnation and sanctions on Pakistan for attacking civilians in blatant breach of international norms.

Karra has instructed all Congress cadres in border areas to remain on high alert and to coordinate with authorities in relief, rescue, and aid operations. He emphasized the need for youth volunteers to organize blood donation drives and emergency support services in high-impact zones.

JKPCC leaders are actively visiting hospitals, injured civilians, and families affected by the shelling. Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma confirmed the formation of volunteer teams in border districts to provide ongoing relief.

Party leaders including Ch. Lal Singh, Mula Ram, Th. Balwan Singh, Yogesh Sawhney, Jahangir Mir, Ved Mahajan, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma, Yash Pal Kundal, Iftikhar Ahmed (MLA Rajouri), Shabir Ahmed Khan (DCC Rajouri), Rajinder Singh Kaka (DCC Poonch), and Bhushan Dogra expressed their full support for the Indian armed forcesand endorsed a strong and decisive response to terrorism.
