
Rahul Gandhi Calls Karra, Urges Full Support to Border Victims; JKPCC Praises Forces, Condemns Pakistan Shelling
Jammu/Srinagar, May 7:
Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, held a telephonic conversation today with JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra to review the ground situation in border districts affected by Pakistan’s unprovoked shelling. He expressed solidarity with the affected civilians and urged Congress cadres to provide every possible help and extend full cooperation to the armed forces and local administration.
Rahul Gandhi also conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families of those martyred and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) applauded the brave and strategic action by the Indian Armed Forces in targeting terror camps across the Line of Control in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir. The party affirmed that the entire nation stands united behind the security forces in their mission to eliminate terrorism.
Expressing deep anguish over the tragic loss of lives and injuries caused by heavy shelling in areas including Poonch, Rajouri, Kupwara, and Baramulla, JKPCC leaders, including Working Presidents Tara Chand and Raman Bhalla, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, and other senior members, strongly condemned Pakistan for deliberately targeting civilian populations and religious places, in blatant violation of international norms.
Calling on the international community to take note of Pakistan’s actions, the party demanded global condemnation and appropriate sanctions against Islamabad for its continued provocations and attacks on civilians.
President Tariq Hameed Karra instructed Congress workers in border districts to actively assist affected families and coordinate with the forces and district administration. Youth volunteers were asked to remain on standby for blood donation drives, emergency relief work, and logistical support.
Karra also reached out to senior party leaders in the border regions to assess the situation and streamline assistance efforts. According to Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, senior party leaders are personally visiting injured civilians and organizing groups of volunteers to support relief operations.
JKPCC leaders saluted the courage of the Indian Armed Forces and urged them to respond to terrorism and cross-border aggression with firmness. They reiterated that the people of India can no longer tolerate Pakistan’s continued export of terrorism and stand resolutely with the forces and government.
