• Bill Seeking Ban on Alcohol in J&K to be Introduced in Assembly
  • PDP MLA from Kupwara, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, has submitted a Private Member’s Bill seeking a complete ban on liquor in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • The bill, set to be introduced in the upcoming budget session of the J&K Assembly, proposes prohibition on the advertisement, sale, purchase, consumption, and manufacture of alcoholic beverages in the Union Territory.
  • Mir warned that the rising alcohol consumption poses a serious threat to society, stressing the need for strict legislation to curb the trend. The bill also proposes harsh penalties, including imprisonment and fines, for violations.

Srinagar, 14 May: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar Wednesday called for robust preparations for the upcoming Urs of Hazrat Muhammad Amin Mantaqi Naqshbandhi Owaisi (RA), to be held at his revered shrine in Aali Kadal, Shahar-e-Khas.
 
To ensure a seamless and enriching experience for the influx of devotees, Sagar stressed the importance of comprehensive arrangements to accommodate the anticipated surge in visitors. “It is essential for both the administration and shrine management to rise to the occasion, providing top-notch facilities that guarantee a fulfilling and hassle-free experience for all attendees,” he asserted.
 
Sagar urged the divisional administration to issue prompt directives to all relevant departments, including the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), to ensure that essential amenities are readily available during the Urs celebrations. “Every effort must be made to prioritize the comfort and well-being of all who visit this sacred shrine at Aali Kadal,” he emphasized.
