Srinagar, May 09 (RNA KASHMIR):
Peoples Conference President and MLA Handwara, Sajad Lone, has voiced deep concern over the ongoing cross-border shelling that has affected multiple villages in the border district of Kupwara.

In a statement issued today, Lone disclosed that he had plans to visit the shelling-hit areas but was urged by security authorities to refrain due to safety concerns.

“I wanted to visit the affected areas in Kupwara, but the security agencies advised against it considering the present situation and the logistical pressure it could create on the security forces. I completely understand their position,” he said.

Highlighting the scale of the damage, Lone noted that the shelling was not limited to LOC-adjacent areas but had also impacted several interior regions.

“From Uri to Karnah and even areas far from the LOC like Chowkibal, Panzgam, Soonthipora, Dolipora, Batpora, and Rawathpora, all have suffered damage,” he stated.

He further described the psychological toll on residents, mentioning the persistent rattling of homes due to shelling in dozens of villages.

Expressing heartfelt solidarity with the affected people, Lone added,

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the border residents enduring these tough times. Their resilience is unmatched, and they deserve our full support.”
