JAMMU, MAY 10:
In a deeply emotional gesture, senior leaders of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC)visited the residence of Dr. R.K. Thapa, former Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADDC) Rajouri, who tragically lost his life this morning due to Pakistani shelling at his home in Rajouri.

Among the visiting leaders were JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, former MLC Ved Mahajan, Control Room members Sanjeev Panda, Neeraj Gupta, Rajveer Singh, and PCC Spokesperson Sahil Sharma.

The delegation expressed profound grief and shock over the untimely demise of Dr. Thapa, describing him as a dedicated, people-friendly officer, known for his approachable nature, helpfulness, and humility. The leaders conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for strength and peace during this time of immense loss. They called his death a major setback to public administration and civil society.

Visit to Pak Shelling Site in Rehari

Prior to the condolence visit, the Congress delegation also toured the Rehari area of Jammu City, where cross-border shelling by Pakistan injured several civilians and caused significant damage to parked vehicles, houses, and surrounding infrastructure.

The leaders interacted with the affected families and visited the injured individuals undergoing treatment at GMC Hospital, expressing full solidarity and support.

“Immediate Compensation Needed”: Raman Bhalla

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Raman Bhalla urged the government to immediately compensate those affected by the shelling—both injured individuals and families facing property damage. He emphasized the need for swift financial assistance for treatment, reconstruction, and repairs, stating:

“These citizens have suffered immensely, both physically and materially. The administration must act without delay to support them in this hour of crisis.”
