SIA Kashmir Busts Sleeper Cell Network, Raids 20 Locations in South Kashmir
RNA, 11 May 2025
The Jammu and Kashmir Police has been actively monitoring terror operatives and overground workers (OGWs) suspected of operating covertly within the region. According to technical surveillance, several sleeper cells in Kashmir were found to be in direct contact with handlers based in Pakistan. These operatives were allegedly sharing sensitive information related to security forces and critical infrastructure using encrypted messaging platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, and others.
Moreover, these individuals were also disseminating online radical propaganda under the directives of terrorist groups including Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad, posing a serious threat to national security and public integrity.
Acting on these findings, the State Investigation Agency (SIA), Kashmir, on 11th May 2025, launched a series of coordinated searches at nearly 20 locations spread across the districts of South Kashmir. These operations were carried out in connection with FIR No. 01/2025, registered under Sections 13, 17, 18, 18-B, 38, and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act at P/S CI/SIA Kashmir.
During the raids, officials recovered significant incriminating material, and multiple suspects have been detained for detailed interrogation.
Initial investigations indicate that these individuals were deeply involved in a terror conspiracy and played a role in spreading anti-national narratives with the intent of undermining India’s sovereignty, disrupting public harmony, and inciting communal tensions.
The SIA reiterated its unwavering commitment to protecting the nation from all forms of terrorism and secessionist activities and assured continued stringent action against those found involved.
