• Bill Seeking Ban on Alcohol in J&K to be Introduced in Assembly
  • PDP MLA from Kupwara, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, has submitted a Private Member’s Bill seeking a complete ban on liquor in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • The bill, set to be introduced in the upcoming budget session of the J&K Assembly, proposes prohibition on the advertisement, sale, purchase, consumption, and manufacture of alcoholic beverages in the Union Territory.
  • Mir warned that the rising alcohol consumption poses a serious threat to society, stressing the need for strict legislation to curb the trend. The bill also proposes harsh penalties, including imprisonment and fines, for violations.

1.From 10-02-2025, 1700 hrs. to 11-02-2025, 1700 hrs., there was slow movement observed on NH-44 due to breakdown of 02 HMVs, single lane traffic at Dalwas, Mehad, between Marog and Kishtwari Pather and due to four lane construction work.

2. Passengers/LMVs operators are advised to undertake journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during day time as there is apprehension of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.

3. Goods carrier (HMV/LMV) Operators carrying fresh perishable/live stock are advised to load their vehicle as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters time to time as there is single lane traffic and poor condition of road at Dalwas, Mehad and between Marog & Kishtwari Pather on Jammu Srinagar NHW .

4. HMVs Operators/Owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that vehicle owners must double check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.

5. HMVs with only 06 and 10 tyres shall be allowed to ply through Dhar road.

6. Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary haltage between Ramban and Banihal especially near landslide/shooting stone area.

TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 12-02-2025

Subject to fair weather and better road conditions LMVs Passenger/Private Cars/HMVs shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban for road condition. Commuters are requested to check NH 44 status at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and face book page.

SFs Convoy Movement

Subject to fair weather and good road condition, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.

Kishtwar- Sinthan- Anantnag NH-244

Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road is closed for vehicular movement as per Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kokernag’s advisory endstt. no. SDM/KNG/2024-25/3139-45 dated 16-01-2025 .

SSG ROAD

Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road is closed due to fresh snowfall. Decision regarding the vehicular movement on SSG road shall be taken tomorrow after getting green signal from road maintenance agencies

Mughal Road

Mughal Road is closed for vehicular movement as per District Magistrate Poonch’s order endstt. no. DMP/JC/7273-92 dated 18-01-2025 in view of snow accumulation.

Bhaderwah-Chamba road

Bhaderwah-Chamba road is still closed due to snow accumulation.
